Take part in the COPE Galway Christmas Day Swim which takes place on Christmas morning from 10am to 1pm at Blackrock, Salthill!

For 27 years the people of Galway have braved the cold so others don’t have to.

To further support vulnerable and isolated men, women and families in Galway this Christmas get sponsored for your dip in the water on Christmas morning. Once registered you will receive a fundraising pack with tips on how to get sponsored by your peers and organising events to reach your personal target.

The event aims to fund our local services in homelessness, domestic violence and for older people. Some key facts about COPE Galway to show you how your generosity will help those less fortunate this Christmas:

In 2015 we worked with 166 families, 493 single people and 7 couples affected by homelessness in Galway

Domestic Violence Services

In 2015 we worked with 380 women and 180 children experiencing domestic violence

Older People’s Services

In 2015 we produced and delivered 55,000 meals on wheels for 401 people.

The following gives you an idea of how your sponsorship or donations are making a real difference in people's lives:

€10 - could provide support for our lunch clubs for older people in the community

€25 - could help provide a homeless person with a place at COPE Galway at Christmas this year, giving them a hot shower, a nutritious meal, a health check and access to COPE Galway services year round

€50 - could provide an ‘Emergency Pack’ for a woman who has escaped a violent home, including toothpaste, toothbrush, underwear and pyjamas

€100 - could provide the expert advice on work opportunities needed to give a homeless person a better chance of finding a job in the New Year
