Martina Kelly

martina-kellyMartina is a lecturer in the College of Engineering & Informatics at NUI Galway.  Prior to joining NUIG, Martina worked for many  years in the electronics industry.  

Martina holds degrees in German and Economics, a Higher Diploma in Education, and a Masters of Science in Occupational Health and Ergonomics.  Martina also holds a PhD in Engineering from NUI Galway.

Martina’s main teaching and research interests are in the areas of risk management in regulated environments; integrated management systems; and ergonomics and human factors.

Martina is the NUI Galway Academic Programme Director for the BSc in Health & Safety Systems and sits on the Programme Boards for the Masters of Science /Hdip Occupational Health & Safety as well as the Masters of Applied Science Enterprise Systems.

Martina is a firm believer in life-long learning and is currently studying towards a Diploma in Academic Practice with the University’s Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching.

Martina has been an active member of the Galway Sub Aqua club and a long-time volunteer with the club’s search and recovery unit, as well as volunteering with University College Hospital’s  hyperbaric recompression chamber team.

Martina joined the Board of COPE in 2012 and also sits on the Board’s Operations sub-committee.
