COPE Galway, a local organisation providing social services for some of the most vulnerable and isolated people in our community, have launched their annual report for 2013. The report highlights the growing housing crisis in Galway and the challenges faced by the organisation in providing their services. COPE Galway work with people affected by homelessness, women and children experiencing domestic violence, and older people.
The Board of Management of COPE Galway welcomes the publication earlier this month of the Implementation Plan on the States Response to Homelessness – May 2014 to December 2016. As a significant agency responding to the issues of homelessness in Galway, COPE Galway see first-hand how difficult it is currently for people to access housing.
Monday 19th May sees the launch of an initiative between Galway University Hospitals and COPE Galway Meals on Wheels. The project aims to raise awareness of under- nutrition in older patients and increase awareness of the benefits of Meals on Wheels in Counties Galway & Mayo.
